AN UNLIKELY STOREFRONT - A TRAVELING BOUTIQUE
Whenever I tell people that I own a boutique, I am always asked where my storefront is located. It's a tough answer because the answer to that question is everywhere!
When I was a senior in high school I began my plans to start my boutique. I came across the opportunity to purchase a vintage camper that had been renovated into a boutique. The moment I stepped in I knew it was going to be a vital part of my business.
I was SO lucky to find this camper. It was in great condition, the owner before me did an amazing job with the renovations. The only thing I needed to do was make it unique to my taste (spoiler: I make changes... a lot!)
As my business has grown and developed, so has my taste. You can see that in the difference between these two pictures. The left is the current version of my camper and the right is the very first version! My style has transformed from bold and making a statement to light and airy. I take a lot of inspiration from coastal colors and textures!
I wanted to make my camper feel like something you'd find on the east coast! I love cute beach towns, blues and whites, and charming details that make a space unique. My camper is fit with lots of rack space, a counter for accessories, and a dressing room. I even added a peel and stick wallpaper to the ceiling which made the biggest difference for the inside of the camper!
Now you may be wondering, "Ashlynn, where the heck do you take this thing?!" Like I said earlier, everywhere! I sell my clothing at little pop up markets, fairs, and festivals. Customers are able to come inside to shop and try things on, like a regular storefront, but smaller! There is also space outside to set up racks and other display items!
Now what is the advantage of having a mobile store vs a brick and mortar? You get to go to the customer instead of having them come to you. I have grown my business immensely through visiting different places and meeting new people. People love to get out of the house and markets are a popular way to do so.
I seriously love what I do so much! I am extremely blessed to have found a creative outlet that other people can enjoy. If you are from the northern Indiana or southern Michigan area, come find me at a market! I post where I will be heading on my social medias, follow along!
